I would consider myself to be a casual Trekkie. I enjoy watching it but I don't take it so far as to dress up or anything. So, I went to see the new Star Trek film on Sunday evening and I've got to say that I wasn't as impressed as I had hoped I would be. Yeah there was plenty of action but the destruction of Vulcan and the set designs that didn't even remotely match those of the original series/movies kind of bothered me. I understand that its a different timeline and that we have the ability and budgets to make better sets but I'm just saying that it didn't sit well with me. If there is a sequel then I think that the 'Relativity' (a ship from the 29th century that fixes the time line in the Voyager series) ought to go back in time and fix the time line so that all is well again.
